044 – Arsenal Directors, Managers and Families

A few more magazine scans from the late 1930s. I think they explain themselves pretty well so I’ll just say the first cartoon is from The Tattler (12-01-1938) and the rest from The Picture Post (24-12-1938).

029 – Tom Whittaker’s Photographs (part one)

A little while back I was lucky enough to get hold of some of Tom Whittaker’s own photographs. Although some had suffered a bit of water damage today and tomorrow I’m going to post a few of them. Sadly hardly any of them have any details on the back but where there are I’ve posted them as well.

The first photo is of the England tour to Australia in 1925. Rather a poignant photo as it was during this tour he received the injury that finished him as a player. The next photo rather speaks for itself, then the third is a rare photo taken inside the boardroom. Below that is a photo of Tom and Eddie Hapgood in what appears to be a photo to be used as an advert for the Danish paper featured. The last photo shows Tom in probably his best known role, as physio extraordinaire, always ready to use the latest equipment.

Part two tomorrow.
